THE PROJECT

Description

The board of directors of the Observatoire de la Géosphère deCharlevoix (OGC) has the mandate to establish a scientific interpretation center dedicated to the promotion and interpretation of Earth sciences, particularly in geology and astronomy, in relation with the meteorite impact which created the Charlevoix region. All in a humanist approach, inspired by the legacy of astrophysicist Hubert Reeves.

Espace Hubert-Reeves aims to:

  • Disseminate knowledge related to the formation of the Earth in an original, interactive and fun way;
  • Increase school perseverance and counter dropout, as well as encourage careers in science;
  • Be a meeting place for the Quebec scientific community and the Charlevoix community;
  • Raise awareness among visitors and students about environmental protection in the spirit of preserving biodiversity expressed by Hubert Reeves.
